This season’s handicap and doubles tournaments took place during January and despite the cold courts and lack of a bar facilities, were very well supported. Entry numbers were very similar to previous season’s events and although there were less people watching, the later rounds and finals did have good support. 

The handicap nearly had a father and son final when Andrew Jenkins beat Jack Brady in the semis to secure his place, but Alex Jenkins lost to Frank Sheeran in the other. Frank beat Andrew 2-0 in the final although both games were very close.

The doubles plate was won by father and son team Bob and Patrick Wagg (with between game coaching by Matt Wagg). Bob and Patrick beat Lynn Edwards and Nicola Cowdell by 3 games to 2 in the final.

The main doubles event was won by Ian Creelman and Mark Clare who beat Tim Norman and Jerry Gunter also by 3 games to 2.

Sunday 15th March – End of current league
Monday 16th March – Start of Open Tournament
Saturday 18th April – Tournament Finals, followed by the presentations prize draw and party at the Sports Club.
